Several high-profile celebrities, including Vin Diesel, Tommy Lee, Jermaine Jackson, and others, have been hit with sexual abuse lawsuits under California's Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act.
This law allows victims to pursue claims that would otherwise be time-barred, aiming to address the underreporting of sexual assault.
Allegations include Vin Diesel being accused of sexual assault by his former assistant, Tommy Lee facing claims of sexual assault during a helicopter ride, and Jermaine Jackson being sued for sexual assault with allegations of a cover-up by Berry Gordy.
Additionally, Paula Abdul has accused "American Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe of sexual assault. The accused individuals have denied the claims, emphasizing their innocence and expressing shock at the allegations.
