MARUM EMBRACES TRADITION AT THE 27th NATIONAL MASK & WAWAGIRA FESTIVAL

THE 27th National Mask and Wawagira Festival kicked off in East New Britain with the traditional Kinavai ceremony yesterday. 

The notable figure at the event was Michael Marum, the Provincial Member for East New Britain.

Dressed in traditional attire, Marum's participation symbolized his deep respect for local traditions.

His meaningful presence showed his connection to the community and its cultural roots.

As he walked through the shallow coastal waters to join the Kinavai ceremony, the crowd watched in anticipation.

For the people of East New Britain, seeing their leader embrace their traditions so wholeheartedly was a powerful moment.

The festival grounds were full of excitement, with traditional, music from kundu drums, with tumbuans and dukduks.

The National Mask and Wawagira Festival is not just a celebration; it is a reminder of the rich cultural history of East New Britain. 

Marum's participation highlighted the importance of preserving and honoring these traditions for future generations.
