OPPOSITION SALUTES PRP'S HISTORIC FIRST FUNDRAISER EVENT
Sunday, 31 May 2026
By Hon. James Nomane.
On behalf of the Parliamentary Opposition, I warmly congratulate the People’s Reform Party on the outstanding success of its inaugural fundraising dinner, held last evening at Dynasty Restaurant, Vision City, Port Moresby.
Under the stewardship of Governor for East Sepik and Parliamentary Party Leader, Hon. Allan Bird MP, Party Founder Hon. James Donald MP, and Parliamentary Member Hon. Maso Hewabi MP, the People's Reform Party has demonstrated exactly what principled political leadership looks like — organised, purposeful, and resolute.
The evening drew Members of Parliament, business leaders, community elites, and supporters from across the country. This was a powerful signal that Papua New Guineans from every walk of life are ready for genuine change. The event was entertaining, inspiring and significant in meaning. It is the kind of first step that, in hindsight, marks the beginning of something historic. This sentiment was reinforced with Sir John Momis' wisdom as the keynote speaker.
The PRP's Hard Reset philosophy is anchored in six pillars: national renewal spanning economic governance, institutional integrity, public service delivery, security, social equity, and democratic accountability. It offers a coherent, evidence-based platform the nation urgently needs. It is not a slogan. It is a blueprint that will lay the “train tracks” for nation building.
Governor Bird reminded us that the crises afflicting this country are not acts of nature — they are manmade. And what human decisions have broken, human decisions can repair. That is not naivety. That is the foundation of every successful national turnaround in history.
The Opposition stands shoulder to shoulder with the PRP and all parties committed to offering Papua New Guinea a credible alternative government at NGE 2027. The tentacles of dysfunction — nepotism, institutional capture, fiscal mismanagement — will not remove themselves. They will be removed by organised, courageous, unified leadership that had the full support of the country.
Last night was one step toward ending the culture of "kaikai man" and relegating incompetence from politics. We will take many more.
