The Eastern Highlands Provincial Government under the Numu administration has been focusing on 3 key policy priority areas; Road infrastructure, Agriculture and Business Investments.

In its endeavor to realise its development aspirations in the province, the provincial government has opened its doors for investment in the province.

Last Wednesday, a high level delegation from China Wuyi Co Limited visited Eastern Highlands Province. China Wuyi Co Limited is a subsidiary of Fujian Construction Engineering Corporation in Fujian Province, China.

A State Owned Enterprise actively involved in construction and engineering. It carries out international projects as the overseas arm of the Fujian Construction Engineering Corporation.

The Company reported $334 million in international project work in 2012, placing the company among the 250 largest international contractors as ranked by 'Engineering News Record'.

The team's visit last week added credence to a long time sister province relationship between Eastern Highlands and Fujian province which was started in 1996. The relationship remained dormant for nearly 20 years.

Until under Numu administration, the sister provincial was revitalized, with beneficial economic development prospects that will impact Eastern Highlanders.

The aim of delegation's visit was to further promote and strengthen the sister provincial relationship between Fujian and Eastern Highlands provinces. And bolster the Company's effort in supporting the provincial government in infrastructure development.

Also, to inspect infrastructure projects undertaken by China Wiyu Co Ltd in Eastern Highlands for their quality standards for the socio economic benefit of the people of Eastern Highlands, and PNG.

Team members in the visit included were head of management from various companies including; Investment, Financial, Economics, International Business and Investment, and Engineering departments.

Eastern Highlands Deputy Governor Hon Pikus Boas and Provincial Administrator John Gimiseve received the team on behalf of Governor Numu.

Mr Boas said the under the provincial government under Numu administration is focused on 3 key policy areas; Road infrastructure, Agriculture, and Investment.

Despite economic challenges, the provincial government is implementing some of this policies. He welcomed the team on board to co-partner with the provincial government to support implementing the 3 key polices of the provincial government in the province.

General Manager of Fujian Construction and Engineering Co, Lin Xias Qun, said the relationship between Eastern Highlands and Fujian provinces has significantly improved recently.

He said, "the visit was important as it opened up more opportunities to have Eastern Highlands province join in the local construction work that they are engaged with in; Fujian, Africa and South-east Asia.

As a Civil Engineering Company we not only engaged in Civil Engineering construction but also in Real Estate Development and Investment", he said.

China Wiyu Co currently has 3 projects being implemented in Eastern Highlands. The projects namely are; K22M Goroka Market redevelopment, K81.7M Viviso Highway in Henganofi, and $900M Highlands Highway rehabilitation, segment from Henganofi to Western Highlands.

Mr. Qun stated that they not only will do an inspection on the current projects that are being implemented but also as a Civil Engineering Construction Company, "we would like to have our projects here be of very good quality, and done well!

Also, based on current situation, "we would like to get more information about the projects for us to have further investments, said Mr. Qun.

Mr. Qun further said that since Eastern Highlands and Fujian provinces are friends, which was built long time ago, "we would like to join in the development of Eastern Highlands province and make some contribution to the basic infrastructure constructions here to make this place a better one."

Provincial Administrator John Gimiseve said the provincial government is stable unlike in the past, both political and administration, hence very good for partnership and investment.

He said, "China Wiyu Co is most welcomed into the province and emphasized that Eastern Highlands is their second home away from Fujian province in China. You can setup your base in Eastern Highlands and later branch out to other parts of the country, said Mr. Gimiseve.

The high level Chinese delegation spent 2 days in Eastern Highlands before they headed back to Port Moresby.

JUSTICE SYSTEM AN EXECUTIVE CLUB FOR FEW - By Allan Bird

JUSTICE SYSTEM AN EXECUTIVE CLUB FOR FEW: GOVERNOR BIRD By Allan Bird MP, Governor for East Sepik Province | The SUN of Papua New Guinea. It seems the rich and the powerful cannot be touched by our judiciary system. They can hire the best lawyers money can buy while police prosecuters are living in the settlements. Even when the Police Prosecuters are good at their job, well the workers in the courts help the rich and the powerful to get away with by robbing the future of our children. It seems that there is no place in PNG for good, decent and honest people. Only the rich and powerful, and evil people can get ahead in PNG. This is not a good sign.   I urge all good PNGeans to rise up, take back our country from the evil that has taken hold of our nation. As evil continues to win, good people will continue to lose hope. This is happening already.   Let's beat evil together. Don't let them win. If we all give up and give in, if evil people continue to win and there is no...

KEEP MARAPE AS PM! by Dr. Clement Waine.

KEEP MARAPE AS PM By Dr Clement Waine The foreign occupying powers want Prime Minister James Marape out of office because he signed MOU with MCC/Ramu NiCo for copper and nickel/cobalt smelting in the country. This MOU kick starts the wheels of industrialization. The foreign forces do not like PNG to rise to the next level of economic growth, and they are using all their powers within our own systems to derail the wheels of industrialization from spinning. All gullible PNGeans masquerading as intellectuals must know this single fact and stop beating their drums. Marape MUST stay back as PM, and we will all spin this wheel of industrialization that was already set in motion. I will tell you a story; it may help or not, but at least I am trying to convince you and others out there. In 2007, Marape became MP for Tari-Pori and became Minister for Education in Somare government. He dreamed of the concept of the National Schools of Excellence. He brought the submission to NEC, a meeting held ...

Insights on the Gold Bullion in Papua New Guinea: Dr. Clement Waine's Perspective

Insights on the Gold Bullion in Papua New Guinea: Dr. Clement Waine's Perspective  From Dr Clement Wane PhD (Not Dr John Kuimb, Allan Bird or Justin Parker) Dr Clement Waine. My Views on the Gold Bullion Bill: These are my own views without reading the profiles of any of the companies involved, the draft bill, or the arguments (for and against) surrounding the bill. 1. PNG owned 22.5% of Lihir and 22.5% of Porgera and Mekere sold them in 2001. 2. Consequently, for the last 22yrs, the State of PNG had no recourse to the revenue of the sale of gold or the actual productions (i.e. gold bars); 3. We sold our interests in Lihir and Porgera for pittance (that’s a different discussion if you folks want to have it!) 4. For 2022 years PNGeans were happy! 5. Nobody complained! 6. The Lihir and Porgera mines are very lucrative gold mines in the world and Barrick and Newcrest had a field day over these mines in the last 22 years and nobody claimed their gold productions were PNG’s assets!...
